This paper describes the use of remote diagnostics systems aboard ice-breaking LNG carriers to continually record, consolidate, upload, and analyze electrical ice-breaking propulsion performance indices and physical quantities. The study performed, which was based on retrieving and further analysis of consolidated and uploaded data, represents a loop closure on the assessment and review of the design assumptions made in the inception of the advanced propulsion control algorithms employed aboard.
