This paper presents a numerical method for predicting hydrodynamic forces and motions in waves for two ships. The numerical method utilizes the zero speed Green function in the frequency domain to provide hydrodynamic forces in both the frequency and time domains. Numerical predictions highlight the sensitivity of forces and motions to encounter frequency and the slow decay of retardation functions when two ships are in close proximity. The numerical method is validated against previously published experimental results. Ship geometries and measured ship responses are presented in detail to enable usage by others. The validation results are consistent with previously published work, indicating that forward speed radiation and di raction e ects are more important for ship interaction cases than for single ship cases.
