Recently, workers constructing an offshore structure have been facing difficulties in identifying the exact locations of the various parts and in examining their interferences during installation because the number of parts is considerably large and they are usually designed to be installed in a very tight space. In this study, we propose a mobile system to assist the workers in handling such problems. This system provides information of the installation process in various forms on a mobile device, including three-dimensional (3D) models, two-dimensional (2D) drawings, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) data in the field. It interactively shows the outfitting shape and installation positions of the parts to be installed along with a 3D computer-aided design (CAD) model. Additionally, it provides updated production drawings when requested by a worker. This system maximizes the accessibility of the entire engineering information for constructing an offshore structure that can improve the production efficiency and quality of the outfitting installation.
