This paper introduces a generalized potential/RANS interactive method for the prediction of propulsor performance with emphasis on the calculation of the steady (axisymmetric) or the time-averaged (non-axisymmetric) effective wake fields. This method can be used to handle different types of propulsor-related multi-component interaction problems in either a steady manner (for axisymmetric flows) or a time-averaged manner (for non-axisymmetric flows). The method is first validated for a uniform inflow case and then applied to a vortical flow-propeller interaction case, a counter-rotating propeller case, as well as a hull-rudder-propeller interaction case. Results are compared with RANS (with propeller conforming mesh) results and experimental data.
