Fatigue life assessment of ships is not an easy task due to uncertainties in the prediction of loading and structural response. In order to further understand and reduce these uncertainties, tools used to calculate wave loads and couple these with the structure require validation. This paper presents a validation study of a hydro-structural coupling tool using full scale data required to understand the prediction of fatigue loading and the resulting structural response. These comparisons give insights on the expected accuracy of hydro-structural coupling focused on fatigue calculation. The sensitivity of the results associated to the uncertainty on relative wave direction is discussed.
