While the global maritime industry has invested a considerable amount of effort, time, and money into developing the technological solutions to operate liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel and dual fuel ships, current market conditions in the shipping market have caused owners to consider the concept of "LNG Fuel Ready vessels". This paper seeks to provide a Classification Society perspective to this concept, as well as outline some of the decisions owners, designers and builders may need to make if they are considering this alternative.
