This paper summarizes a study to investigate the influence of corrugations on tank sloshing pressures. Through well planned and executed test programs, the authors observed enhancement as well as reduction of impact pressures under the complex hydrodynamic interaction between local flow and the corrugations. Engineers should consider the physics of these corrugation effects in defining design pressures for integrity assessment of membrane LNG tanks.
