We talk incessantly about the value of discipline integration and the need for technical collaboration, but disconnects remain common in our project work. Engineers are busy drilling, completing, producing and forecasting wells, while Geoscientists are expected to provide a volumetric check and some sense of how changing reservoir properties will affect well performance. Only when we embark on integrated modeling studies do we seem to assemble all the available data and work together to obtain greater insights than those needed to “feed the rig monster”.
