ABSTRACT

In Daqing Placanticline in the Songliao Basin, China, where the terrain is flat, and shallow gas is only hundreds of meters deep, as there is gas at structural highs, a special local anomaly feature of gravitylows occurs on the shallow gas pools. In this study, a 1:50000 high precision gravity dataset is processed by band-pass amplitude preservation filter, the result shows that the local gravity lows have good correspondence with shallow gas pools. It is concluded that the low residual gravity in local areas is an important geophysical feature of shallow biogenic gas pools with structural or lithological traps and there are large shallow gas resources in Daqing Placanticline.
