Summary

Hydrogeological problems often require the estimation of aquifer parameters in highly heterogeneous environments, where parameters can change significantly at the centimeter scale. Both seismic and GPR crosswell tomography can be used to produce high-resolution velocity models in the near-surface, and these velocity models can be transformed to porosity models using appropriate porosity-velocity models. In this study, porosity between a pair of wells in a shallow alluvial aquifer was predicted from seismic and GPR crosswell data.
