Estimating the elastic parameters accurately is the key to improve the objectivity and accuracy of the reservoir property identification. The prestack inversion based on the elastic wave theory is an important method to estimate the elastic parameters. In this work, we present a non-linear AVO inversion method using the improved artificial bee colony algorithm based on exact Zoeppritz equations. In this method, the artificial bee colony algorithm is improved by learning from the particle swarm optimization algorithm and the genetic algorithm, and the objective function for the AVO inversion is constructed based on exact Zoeppritz equations by using the Bayesian theory. It not only overcomes the limitations of conventional AVO inversion method based on the approximate expression of Zoeppritz equations, but also has good stability and accuracy. We can obtain the precise P-wave velocity, S-wave velocity and density of the reservoir which can be used to estimate the petrophysical parameters accurately. It is much helpful to the exact prediction of the reservoir characteristics.
