ABSTRACT

We propose a technique to reconstruct the magnetic anomaly from a dike in a way that the influence of the induced magnetization, remanent magnetization, and geological dip are completely removed, resulting in a new totally symmetric anomaly that could avoid the need of reduction to the pole. Taking advantage of the parity properties of the equation representing magnetic anomalies due to dikes the method decomposes the signal into its even and odd parts using sine and cosine transforms. The odd part becomes even after a Hilbert transformation and the signal is then reconstructed by a weighted average of their even and Hilbert-transformed odd parts. Our approach is tested for synthetic and field data.
