ABSTRACT

The role of anisotropy has dramatically increased as the advent of wide-azimuth and high-density seismic acquisition. Fracture prediction using the HTI anisotropic theory is the useful tool for identifying reservoir characteristics. In this paper, an approach of fracture density and orientation estimation is proposed based on the combination of VVAZ and AVAZ analysis workflow. The method is implemented with 3D pre-stack wide-azimuth seismic data from Sichuan basin. Field data example shows that the inversion results agree with geology information and imaging well-log data, which indicates the effectiveness of this technology.
