A new simple asymptotic method for a wavefield continuation problem with a multipath ray propagation and arbitrary caustics in inhomogeneous media is proposed. The method is based on the asymptotic approximation of general form of the integral solution of a wavefield continuation problem with Dirichlet boundary condition. The general form of the solution in ray parametric coordinates based on ray Green's function allows one to obtain a solution that does not contain singularities of the integrand. The numerical implementation of the solution is connected with the adaptive calculation of beam fans for point sources, as well as accumulated beam indices, with which the total angle of phase rotation of the waves is related. The proposed asymptotic method can be used as a basis for the implementation of multiarrival prestack 3D depth migration.
