ABSTRACT

Elastic impedance inversion is an important prestack inversion method in reservoir prediction and fluid identification. However, prestack sparse inversion suffers strongly from ill-posed problems when using some local optimization algorithms which rely heavily on the initial model. This paper develops a new method of prestack sparse inversion based on orthogonal matching pursuit(OMP) algorithm which is a L norm optimization algorithm. We add the constraint of impedance regularization to the objective function to enhance the stability of inversion and utilize OMP algorithm to solve the objective function to constrain the sparsity of reflection coefficients. In this way, we can reduce the dependence on initial model and obtain blocky elastic parameters with higher resolution of layers. Application to numerical examples shows that our method works well with a reliable result even for noisy data.
