ABSTRACT

Three-dimensional seismic imaging can provide an indication of a reservoir’s external form and internal architecture. This imaging furthers an understanding of dimension, configuration connectivity and depositional processes while allowing a prediction of reservoir heterogeneity during hydrocarbon production. However, most seismic geomorphologic interpretations come from high quality offshore shallow seismic data volumes. Unfortunately, onshore typically less high quality seismic of especially deep reservoirs there is a lack of a systematic method for seismic reservoir characterization. In this study, a systematic operational method is proposed for seismic fluvial reservoir characterization in order to characterize three different hierarchical architecture of a meander reservoir imaged in the Bohai Bay Basin of China.
