ABSTRACT
Induced polarization (IP) research during the 1950s through 1980 yielded a rapid sequence of substantial advances. It might be argued that the pace of advance since that period has slowed from many perspectives. Standard practices today occasionally reflect aspects of the research legacy that may either be relatively antiquated or outdated reasoning. A list of areas or IP-concerns deserving improvement is provided herein. Broadly related topics include:
• understanding of the phenomenon and useful physical models
• array geometries
• measurement technologies
• response estimation algorithms
