ABSTRACT
Velocity model building in the US Gulf of Mexico is a complicated process that requires multiple modern imaging algorithms to properly discern the complex salt geometries observed there. This paper will review some of the current velocity model building strategies, and provide examples of advantages and shortfalls of the different algorithms in the model building process.
