ABSTRACT

The world''s first 3D deepwater, wide-azimuth ocean bottom seismic (OBS) node survey at Atlantis Field in the Gulf of Mexico has demonstrated a new industry capability to acquire deep (up to 3000 m) ocean bottom seismic. In this paper we will describe the history of this technological innovation including the motivation that drove this project, the field trial that verified this new capability and the role this technology will play in the appraisal and development of deepwater fields in the future.
