ABSTRACT

Static corrections play an important role in the seismic data processing on which the quality of seismic sections depend. In fold belt area the weathered layer as well as sub weathered layer velocity vary appreciably in horizontal as well as vertical directions. In such case the conventional approach in computation of static corrections may not give desired results. The authors came out with a methodology which envisages the stage wise computation of static corrections. The methodology was applied on 2D seismic data in fold belt areas in Indian basin. The method gave remarkable improvement in bringing out sub surface images. The paper explains methodology and its applications.
