Summary

In this paper we study scattering effects cause by a monopole source inside a 2-D cylindrical fluid-filled borehole embedded in an heterogeneous medium. To this purpose we use a second and fourth order Finite Difference scheme with triangular grids. We show results for open and cased holes in strongly and weakly heterogeneous media.

Introduction

To determine different reservoir properties, such as, porosity, permeability and fluid saturation in highly heterogeneous formations using information deduced from available geophysical well logs is a difficult task.
