Summary

Proper field management requires understanding the nature of the reservoir in great detail. This requires thorough knowledge of stratigraphy, porosity, permeability and faulting throughout the field. Well logs are crucial to this effort but only seismic data can be used to estimate these properties as one moves away from the well bores. The ability of seismic to successfully delineate these properties is limited by resolution and thus, the frequency content, of the data. We report the application of a single-sensor seismic survey to Murchison Field, North Sea.
