Summary
A model for the prediction of supercritical production rates from horizontal wells in oil rims is presented. The model is based on an extension of the 2D gravity-drainage model for critical rates in two-phase scenarios. The extended model can be used for two- (gas/oil or water/oil) or three-phase (gas/oil/water) situations with unfavorable mobility ratios. A field example from the Troll West oil rim illustrates the applicability of the model.
