Abstract

Federal Regulations that apply to transportation of hazardous products broadly require pipeline operators to implement training and qualification plans for those who operate pipeline facilities. Training plans often utilize desktop, electronic, and over-the-shoulder methods to train, assess, and document these activities. In the control room setting, operators are increasingly implementing simulation-based training to add experience to learning plans. We will describe our own implementation and experience using simulation as applied to pipeline control room training and performance assessment.
