Abstract

The significant difference exist in water flooded performance of different horizontal wells, and many influencing factors including heterogeneity, horizontal well length, location and trajectory would play effects on water flooded performance of horizontal well. Based on the production data of horizontal wells with bottom water reservoir in TZ402CIII and numerical simulation for production history matching, this paper studied horizontal well water flooded performance and its influencing factors, for the first time demonstrated that water flooded patterns of horizontal wells with bottom water reservoir in Tarim Basin was classified into three categories composed of line breakthrough water flooded the whole horizontal section, punctiform breakthrough water flooded the whole horizontal section, punctiform breakthrough water flooded the local horizontal section. The results would be used to qualitatively designing horizontal well, determining the completion plan for horizontal well, evaluating the development potentiality to late production period in horizontal well, and determining horizontal well candidate for measure treatments(e.g. watershutoff, hydraulic fracturing or acidizing for horizontal well) in mid-late production period.

Introduction

Nowadays, horizontal well technology is widely applied to oilfield development, especially horizontal well can effectively delay the water cresting in developing bottom water driven reservoir. More and more theories and technologies have been developed for the development of horizontal well, Giger[1], Ozkan[2] et al and Papatzacos[3] et al developed the analytic model of critical rate and water breakthrough time for horizontal well respectively. Yang[4] et al and Recham[5] et al also presented the numerical model of critical rate and water breakthrough time for horizontal well using regression analysis of numerical simulation results. Dikken[6] first presented and modeled the pressure drop in horizontal well and its effect on the performance of horizontal well, then many authors (e.g. Penmatcha[7] et al and Ihara[8] et al) focused on the pressure drop in horizontal well and developed corresponding calculation models for horizontal well. Furui[9], Hyun[10] and Penmatcha[11] et al studied on performance of horizontal well, and developed a coupled reservoir and wellbore model for horizontal well, Hyun[12] studied for integrated optimization on long horizontal well length, Fan.[13] developed a model for optimal horizontal well length using an coupled model of reservoir and wellbore hydraulics, whereas Hu[14] presented that of model using NPV method. Shirif[15] presented the model of waterflooding performance of stratified reservoirs with bottom water conditions.

However, it is lack of detailed research for water flooded performance and pattern of horizontal well with bottom water drive reservoir. There are more than 140 horizontal wells in Tarim Oilfield and the practical production show that the significant difference exist in water flooded characteristics and development effectiveness through the practical production comparison results for different horizontal wells. Based on the actual production performance data and using numerical simulation results for matching the production history of horizontal wells in TZ402CIII reservoir, the water flooded performance characteristic and its effect factors on water flooded performance are analyzed in detailed, and for the first time the three water flooded patterns of horizontal wells with bottom water drive reservoir in Tarim ar
