We have simulated the experiments on viscous displacement in fracturedporous media by assuming an appropriate fracture capillary pressure. Theanalysis of the experiments reveal that the matrix could be desaturatedsubstantially beyond the gravity-capillary equilibrium.


In a previous study, we have simulated gas-oil gravity drainage in fracturedporous media. Numerical simulation results showed that fracture capillarypressure is an important two-phase flow parameter in a matrix/fracturesystem.

The main focus of this paper is to analyze experiments on viscousdisplacement in fractured porous media reported in Ref. 3. In the following, after a brief review of rock and fluid data, analysis and interpretation willbe presented.
