Girassol Miocene M14 project, a Brown Field subsea tie-back to Girassol FPSO on Block17 in Angola, was suspended after pre-project/FEED studies to give priority to more profitable developments. In a permanent attempt to develop the upside reserves of TOTAL Angola portfolio at the best costs, an alternative development scenario was envisaged early 2015 considering the use of stock drilling tubular, completion equipment as well as SPS equipment, the reuse of existing XTs recovered from depleted Girassol wells, the selection of minimum functionalities system.

This paper presents how a "good-enough" strategy has been used to generate real cost savings and schedule optimization for the project. All together, this is a first-of-a-kind for deepwater fields in TOTAL.
