This work presents a logistics planning study dedicated to provide decision support for an especial offshore operation: hydrogen sulfide removal from gas flow at top side facilities. The logistics role in this process is the transportation of critical cargos employed at removal of sulfides. The main issue is a time constraint that maritime units, provided with such removal system, require in order to avoid possible interruptions at the operations, what could cause some loss of production. Therefore, in this work we describe a methodology involving a study of supply vessel's deck capacity and discrete-event simulation to anticipate the behavior of the real-world system, allowing the decision maker to establish a plan to efficiently cope with transport of cargo related to sulfides removal. From logistics point of view, we derive two main results: a quantification of impact on fleet of vessels and port berths. Besides, we tested two different maritime transport policies for cargo delivery to installations and as well as for collect from them. Risks, advantages and disadvantages are addressed either.
