In response to the accelerated climate change witnessed in recent years, caused by excessive Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions, the energy sector has adopted low carbon strategies to tackle these issues. One such approach involves implementing offshore Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) using established subsea processing technologies as the foundational elements.

This paper briefly describes how subsea technology could be utilized within the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) domain, to tackle climate change and ensuring energy security. For instance, high carbon emitting assets can now be economically and environmentally developed, utilizing subsea carbon capture and reinjection technologies.

Considering the emerging status of the offshore Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) sector, the objective of this paper is to present the latest advancements in offshore CCS. It will encompass an overview of development options, the technology qualification activities on key components, and insights into global offshore CCS initiatives.
