Abstract

Installation of an In-Line Tee Assembly (ILTA) in S-lay mode is a challenging task. Specifically, the ILTA stinger exit process is a susceptible operation due to the risk of overstressing the pipeline and excessive rolling of the ILTA structure. Installation in rough weather with long-period swells makes the task even more challenging as it requires an efficient and robust installation methodology to carry out the operation safely within a limited time window. This paper details the analysis techniques and installation methodology adopted to optimise the ILTA stinger exit process while reducing the associated operational risk.
