PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd.'s (PCSB) decision to set up its own Project Management Institute was in recognition of the need to achieve the level of project delivery performance, in terms of safety, cost, quality and schedule, to which it aspired. External benchmarking had shown that it was under-performing in relation to its peers. This paper will show how, during the lifetime of the Project Management Institute, the skill-base within the organisation was broadened and deepened, and project performance improved in comparison with other international operators.
