Abstract

The present paper addresses station-keeping in sea ice. Both design and operational measures are considered. Normative framework is reviewed and informative solutions to satisfy and document the requirements are presented.

Introduction

This paper concerns station-keeping in ice, with focus on design which relies on operational measures. Floaters in ice can generally be categorized as shown in Table 1, depending on how much ice and how many icebergs they are expected to meet during their operating life.
