Abstract

Decarbonise the Industry by leveraging on design solutions. Identify low carbon technologies and choose the most cost-effective to be applied both on new projects and existing plants.

EmiRed is an innovative solution to support the sustainable investment decisions and the carbon neutrality ambitions pursued by the Operators in the Energy Industry.

The case study of a LNG liquefaction plant shows 63% of decarbonization achieved and a marginal abatement cost of 53 USD/tonCO2e: this cost can be compared to the carbon price of the EU ETS, foreseen at 85 €/tonCO2e between 2022 and 2025 and 100 €/tonCO2e from 2026 to 2030.

EmiRed is applicable throughout the whole Energy’s Industry sector, including the Offshore facilities and vessels, similarly to the Onshore case study. It is an innovative methodology and tool, leveraging on a digital solution to support carbon neutrality ambitions shared by Saipem and Operators of Energy’s Industry sector.
