Actually, the main issue for increasing and making sustainable and public-accepted the oil&gas on&off-shore E&P activity, is focused on the stakeholders involved in the awareness of technologies on field. In fact, the widespread lack about the scientific knowledge on E&P facilities of many people and the under-information in the media negatively affect the public awareness of local populations, creating mistrust and antagonism against these activities.
The main questions that need answers in order to remove or reduce doubts that generate contradictory and oppositions are: what really is hydrocarbon resource, a geo-gas storage site underground, a geothermal reservoir How a deep/giant reservoir is made up What about wells, wells integrity, abandoned wells What does occur as a consequence of fluid production/injection underground How much a reservoir is deep with respect to the induced or triggered seismicity eventually recorded at the injection wells How is different induced to triggered seismicity in a faulted area There are critically stressed faults close to the reservoir and what consequences are foreseen What are the effects on aquifers
The innovation of this work is to propose a new 3D divulgation and dissemination tool "view & touch " that could answer to these questions as front end with stakeholders, policymakers, NG organizations and general public. The 3D prototype starting from i.e. a 3D virtual geological model is created by a 3D printer, as a customized real-model reproducing, in a reduced scale, a 3D representation of real reservoir with all the geological layers and drilling hole facilities. This, together with a multidisciplinary approach, could help a transition from the "social/public awareness of technology" to the "public acceptance" of technology.
