The reservoir and well monitoring is a critical input to develop an effective reservoir management strategy. Generally, one of the key issues in diagnosing well performance is detect fluid flow behind multiple barriers, which are not clearly identified by conventional temperature and noise logs. So far, the Production Logging Tool (PLT) approach has been considered essential to identify production/injection zones and to recognize the type of fluid at down-hole conditions only in the wellbore. Likewise, cement log used to evaluate cement integrity is blind through tubing or multiple barriers [2].
However, recent developments in temperature and noise logging tools and interpretation techniques have been rewarded by achieving higher resolution and sensitivity characteristics enabling the detection of previously undetectable fluid-flow behind the casing and leaks.
The High Precision Temperature (HPT) and Spectral Noise Log (SNL) suite by TGT Oilfield Services Co. have innovative features such as large radii of investigation, scanning through multiple barriers and high-resolution data. HPT is composed by a platinum super-sensitive fast-response temperature sensor that can pick up the smallest leak-generated perturbations of wellbore-fluid temperature through multiple barriers providing inflow profile, whereas SNL is composed by a new hydrophone generation that detects noise in a wide frequency range.
This paper presents the first eni application in oil producer well located in brown field using new SNL-HPT tools compared with the "conventional Production Logging Tool technology" (PLT) in order to optimise and integrate the resulting well information.
