E&P projects are becoming more and more complex over the years, with challenges such as deep water, arctic environment and LNG processing. In this context, learning from past experience is a critical factor to ensure the success of the project.
For such purpose, most Oil & Gas organizations have included activities to collect and reuse Lessons Learned within the project management processes of E&P projects. However, the effectiveness of such process depends on two critical factors:
the quality of the collected information, which must be appropriately validated so that it can be extrapolated from the project-specific context and transformed into a piece of generalized knowledge that can be applied across projects;
the capability to efficiently spread the collected information across project teams in the organization, so that people are consistently made aware of the main learning before starting new projects.
The paper will describe the approach and the tools introduced by Eni to make more effective both the Lessons Learned collection and diffusion processes, including:
linkage between Lessons Learned and project risks;
Lessons Learned approval and validation process;
diffusion across Communities of Practices using Webinar and Discussion tools.
