ABSTRACT:

The clear trend for existing and future field developments is that oil and gas exploration and production activities takes place in deeper water, often also in combination with increased tieback distances to the host facilities. Reservoir uncertainties such as possible well pressure decline, increased water production, changing gas-liquid-ratio in combination with long tieback, high hydrostatic lift-off and stringent flow assurance requirements make many fields less attractive or even uneconomical to develop. Subsea booster pumps, in form of single phase/multiphase and wet gas compressors can be attractive tools in providing operational flexibility, robustness and reservoir knowledge to meet these challenging field conditions. This paper will give a summery of the multiphase boosting technology applied and an update of the integration and operating experience from pump installations in deep waters
