This paper will highlight the development and field use of a newly designed Inflatable Service Packer (ISP) for heavy duty drilling and / or deepwater applications. The ISP is an inflatable service tool designed to provide a solution for primary or remedial operations across a diverse range of setting conditions such as drilling riser, cased hole, open hole, perforations etc. With the addition of varying sizes of inflatable packing elements, the ISP may provide an extended length seal and anchor in internal diameters ranging from 7.00" OD through 36.00" ID. This paper will be primarily application driven, identifying field use of the ISP as a service tool in configurations such as a retrievable bridge plug. The paper will highlight the requirement for and subsequent development of the ISP along with disseminating case histories from three super-major oil companies, identifying the reasons for use and the financial and economic justifications thereof
