IFP started in 1999 a three year R&D project on modeling and improvement of Jet Pump. The objective of this project was to evaluate and improve performance and efficiency of Jet Pumps by working on the concept and design. Two approaches were selected:
- ·
the first one by using numerical modeling with the Computal Fluid Dynamics (C.F.D) Fluent code,
- ·
the second one by testing jet pumps on an experimental test loop in order to controlparameters such as efficiency.
Numerical modeling of jet pumps allows to define precise geometrical parameters and their interference with the pump performances, particularly in term of efficiency. Jet pumps were tested on a loop, with mono and diphasic fluids, where the sucked up fluids were water and air and the power fluid water.
