Egypt has many gas discoveries in the recent years, mainly located in the Mediterranean Sea with too many reserves. Such discoveries exceed Egypt's demand of natural gases during the next years and consequently, Egypt thought of gas exportation to the foreign countries as natural gas by means of pipeline and / or by containers after lequification process. Inter-Sinai gas pipeline (36") represents the first step to put Egypt on the natural gas exportation map and also to provide gas for industrial areas located in the North Port Said. Until now such pipeline is taking gas from El-Gamil Plant (located in North Port Said) to El-Arish terminal (located at north Sinai). This pipeline will be connected to the main trunk exportation pipeline starting from Egypt and passing through Gordon, Lebanon and Syria (under completion).Along this pipeline one Fiber Optic cable establishes the communication data high way path between SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System) stations, El-Gamil control center and El-Arish main control center. Such part of communication path is a branch of telecommunication network covering all Egypt gas distribution pipelines. In this paper we will go through the following points:
- *
Communication network covering most of Egypt and connecting all main control centers along the gas distribution pipeline.
- *
Fiber optic communication which is used as data high way communication path and its main advantages compared to the other communication systems such as two wires communication, Antenna communication,... etc.
- *
The future possible uses of such optical fiber cable such as connection between any telephone centers along the pipeline (230 Km.) and also to provide any consumer with the communication link to all the world at the minimum cost.
