ABSTRACT:
Vibration induced fatigue of process piping systems is a significant integrity threat, but the problem is usually addressed reactively using a "fix-as-fail" approach. This paper describes a risk based approach based on the findings of a recent Joint Industry Project that has resulted in a proactive methodology to address the issue of vibration induced fatigue in process pipework. The principal benefits of employing the methodology are examined and quantified. Examples are also provided of its practical application to offshore and onshore installations.
