ABSTRACT
Thermoplastic lined pipework have been successfully used in several oil and gas producing facilities to control corrosion and reduce its escalating maintenance and in-kind replacement costs. This paper discusses the use of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and perfluoralkoxy (PFA) liners in oil facilities in line with the relevant internal and international materials specification. These specifications covers requirements for materials, fabrication, qualification, and inspection for ASME(1)/ANSI(2) class 150 and 300 PTFE and PFA lined carbon steel flanged pipe and fittings transporting corrosive fluids.
