ABSTRACT:

Based on the shaking table test, influence Jaws of spectral characteristic, site types of earthquake, peak acceleration and the height and angle of slope on the distance of rock falls in different shapes are studied. Compared with analytical results, the test results are in good agreement with the analytical results. The results show that the distance of rock falls under far field-earthquake is greater than that under the near-field earthquake. The distances of rock falls increase with the increase of peak acceleration. With the increase of height of slope, distance of rock falls in different shapes show increasing trend, while the angle of the slope reaches 60°, the distance of rock falls decrease with the increase of slope angle. The distance of rock falls from largest to smallest are spherical rock falls, cylindrical rock falls, rectangle rock falls and square rock falls considering the influence of peak acceleration values of earthquakes, while the distance of rock falls from largest to smallest are spherical rock falls, cylindrical rock falls, square rock falls and rectangle rock falls considering the slope shape. The probability value within the range 1.2 H~1.4 H reaches maximum based on the probability method, which can provide reference for protection design of structures at the foot of slope.

1 INTRODUCTION

With the rapid development of transportation in our country, traffic lines will be inevitably through the mountains, and road slopes are widely distributed. The top of the slope will be cut into different soil blocks in the process of contacting with atmospheric, raining water, biological, physical and chemical change. Integrity of the slope is damaged and broken. The collapse phenomenon of rock falls will happen under earthquake, which is a serious threat to the safety of the existing structures at the foot of slope. In recent years, the collapse of the slope under earthquake occur repeatedly, such as, Wenchuan (Ms = 8.0) earthquake which happen in 2008 caused a lot of collapse, and damaged rail and road, Yungui (Ms = 5. 7) earthquake which happen in 2012 caused a Jot of collapse, and damaged lot of houses, as shown in Figure 1.
