The planned Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant is located at Sanmen City, Zhejiang Province. The main exposed bedrock on the site is the Upper Jurassic Period strata, the lithology is tuff sandstone and andesite basalt, and the dike is felsophyre, owing to the rock was suffered different degree weathering, its mechinanical properties have some difference. According to in-situ investigations, drilling, sampling, mechanical property test of rock samples, the physical mechanical indexes of all kinds of lithologic rocks with different weathered degree were statistics comprehensively. At the same time, single-hole and cross-hole seismic wave test of the site and strata lithology were studied, the relationships between mechanical characteristics of rock and seismic wave velocity with different strata lithology and different weathered degree rock were established based on the analysis of site geological conditions. The static and dynamic parameters of different weathered degree rock mass were deduced, and also the relationship between athe average value of shear wave velocity and longitudial wave velocity with different weathered degree rock mass were established. The design parameters of nuclear power plant were given, The reliable basis is provided for the foundation design and earthquake prevention of Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant, China.
The planned Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant is located at Sanmen City, Zhejiang Province. It consists of two sets of 100MW nuclear power generators. In the past ten years, Zhou et al. (2004;2002) once studied the joint fissure characteristics of field rocks, mechanical property of rocks and the seismic and dynamic parameter characteristics of the field of Phase III Qinshan Nuclear Power Project, and also analyzed the dynamic parameters of Tianwan Nuclear Power project field. Based on "Standard for engineering classification of rock masses", "Code for measurement method of dunamic properties of subsoil" and "Code for investigation of geotechnical engineering", and so on. this thesis evaluated the rock mass integrality, weathered degree and mechanical property, by means of investigation and statistical analysis of rockmass structural plane of Sanmen Nuclear Power project field, in combination with drilling, the seismic prospecting and sonic logging. At the same time, according to the results of indoor rock mechanical tests, the design parameters of the field foundation were calculated, and the important basis is provided for the foundation design of the nuclear power plant.

Tuff sandstone(J3c1–2-1), balsam green, ash, light gray, the main part is volcanic debris, the second is terrigenous clastic. breccia ~ residual psammitic texture, block structure, principally composed of breccia and quartz sand cutting, mostly assume edge angle ~ hypo- edge angle, the particle size between 0.02 and 35mm, and the main cements are the siliceous, argillaceous and ferruginous.
