SUMMARY
The existence of a structurally complex geological formation and some subhorizontal discontinuities in the foundation rock mass of the Agua Vermelha Power Plant concrete structures required modifications in the basic design. The utilization of modern prospection methods and the performance of several in situ and laboratory tests allowed the optimization of the project by using finite elements computation method.
This paper presents the evolution of the computations and summarizes the results obtained until de final configuration of the structures.
