SUMMARY
This paper presents some aspects on planning blasting for dam foundations.
Bench blasting of the "central zone" shall be planned considering the detrimental effects of vibrations on nearby structures and on the remaining rock.
The choice of different types of controlled and contour blasting must consider besides other aspects the quality of the rock mass in order to reduce damage to the remaining rock.
Planning of bench exploration should begin from the limits of exploration, considering the thickness of the cautious zone.
