Summary

Complex geological, engineering-geological, geophysical and geotechnical investigations were carried out to supply data needed in calculating the stability both of the entire slope and its separate parts with pillar foundations. These six pillars support the "Mala Rijeka" railway bridge the highest in Europe. Quasi-homogeneous zones in the rock mass were separated by different parameters, like damage, etc. Analyses of stability were made throught the application of various procedures. Variable coefficients of safety relevant to foundation rock sliding were obtained. Procedures in the additional strengthening of the rock mass beneath the highest pillars of the bridge were analysed.
