Resumen

La caracterización de macizos rocosos y el estudio de su comportamiento mecánico y deformacional son complejos debido a la gran variedad de características y propiedades que presentan y al elevado número de factores que condicionan dicha caracterización. A través de las investigaciones geológicas y geofísicas es posible determinar las propiedades y comportamiento mecánico de los materiales de roca y suelo del área de interés. Un uso práctico de esta caracterización es identificar las condiciones geológicas principales en aras de utilizar el subsuelo para concebir las obras superficiales y subterráneas que se determinen en los diseños y que sean requeridas por diferentes proyectos ingénieles como: túneles, centrales eléctricas y demás obras.

Uses of Geophysical Methods in the Determination of Weathering Profile and Geophysical Properties in Tropical Weathered Rock Masses

Abstract

The characterization of rock masses and study their mechanical, study of their mechanical behavior are complex due the great variety of characteristics, and properperties and the high number of factors that impose condition to such characterization. Through the geological and geophysical investigations, it is possible to determine the properties and mechanical behavior of rock and soil materials in the interest area. A practical use of this characterization is to identify the main geological conditions in order to use the subsoil to conceive the superficial and subterranean works that are defined in the designs where are required in the defined in the designs where are required in the different types of engineer projects, such as: tunnels, electrical generators and other works.
