The Gotschna Tunnel is currently being reconstructed. For approximately 10 years, various measurements have been carried out in the tunnel to monitor the swelling behaviour. In addition, laboratory tests have been performed to investigate the rock mass. The findings from these on-site measurements and laboratory tests have been analysed and regularities have been identified, which help to better understand the current behaviour of the tunnel in conjunction with its geology, and thus to better extrapolate the future behaviour. Furthermore, the observations are compared with those from other tunnels to determine similarities and differences.
