Abstract

In the City of Rijeka the Sport Hall Zamet is under construction. An excavation of open pit has to be made and the cut slope has to be vertical with height of 15 m so demanding support system is needed. On the location there is limestone rock-mass which protrudes to the surface on the lateral sides while in the central part is a sinkhole filled with deep clayey deposits. The open pit has been constructed in several phases, with retaining construction in soil layers and rock mass reinforcement by the rock bolts and multi-layered reinforced sprayed concrete. During the open pit construction, a measuring, observing, and monitoring system with horizontal deformeters, vertical inclinometers and geodetic marks was established. In this paper, we present the work execution, so as the behavior of reinforcement systems comparing deformations obtained from numerical model and in situ measurements during the execution of the open pit.
